Comet C/2019 Y4
Quick capture of C/2019 Y4 (5 120 second exposures) With a QHY163C (Gain-137 Offset-50) in a 8" SW Quattro. The first image was stacked in APP . The second image is a stack of the same data in DSS . A very quick trip through PI and here is what I ended up with. I will repro the image when I get over this wicked chest cold!!!

Re: Comet C/2019 Y4
Nice image Oh No. The comet looks good framed against the brighter star.
I'm hoping to get out to have a go at the Atlas soon. How long do you think a guided image can get to before the comet starts to blur?
Hope you cold clears up.
Regards
Graeme

That is a good question. One issue I am having is I don't have the proper adapter to be able to use myGraeme1858 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 8:33 am Nice image Oh No. The comet looks good framed against the brighter star.

Framing of this one was a complete fluke. Between not feeling great, the evenings forecast and the short term forecast it was a case of "poke-and-hope".

Re: Comet C/2019 Y4
No I didn't. I've never used that setting, and I didn't think the data (especially without the CC in) was worth messin' with my settings!

Re: Comet C/2019 Y4
I see... I was just curious how it would work...
You know you can "save" your currentDSS settings and then restore them right?
I'm always afraid to mess with settings once I have something that works too...

Re: Comet C/2019 Y4
Great Job on the Comet!! I'm trying to image it, right now, and it's supposed to be mag 14.8 but in a 180s exposure you can easily see the coma and a tail and the nucleus is very bright!! Can't wait to see what comes out....if these winds die down!!
Great Image!!
