IC405 Starless Using StarNet++

#1

Post by Astrovetteman »

It took me all day and most of tonight to get StarNet++ to load into Pixinsight on my iMac.....but it finally worked....YAY!! I just tried it on a couple of images and, for the most part, it works pretty well at removing the stars, unless they're big and bright. I'll let you be the judge of it on this image if IC405. I think if I did some post processing I could make this look a bit better....this is just a final image I posted last year with StarNet++ applied...no other processing.

That looks really cool!! It really brings out the detail in the object...

Starnet takes forever on my Mac too... I'm going to use it as a test to see how much of a difference 32gb makes compared to 8gb (just upgraded the RAM in my Mac) :D

It is an awesome process, and gives you a lot of control over the processing!

That is just wild, Tom. Starless is generally not my cup of tea, but this kind of image really shows the benefits of the detail that can be brought out. Congrats on the TSS APOD from an old-school guy :)

Nice one Tom.
Yeah, I have found that starnet++ works about the best of any starless process I have used. But it does need a little post processing to address artifacts form the brighter stars.
