But....but...I've been told that there's NO comparison between the Celestron 20X80's and Obi's 20X80's!

Re: Ordered the 20x80mm today.
This isn't a complaint; it was well packaged and that is good. Opened the package to find a hard PVC type case with foam padding of quality good enough for the binoculars. You would think the size of the case would have prepared me for the size of the binoculars, but no, it was a surprise opening the case and seeing how big they are!
Unfortunately the sky was clouding up by the time I had them mounted on a tripod, so no report on
astronomy stuff. I did a get little terrestrial usage the next morning, and I think given the right situation (such as wildlife observation) they will be great. At 4 lbs, if leaning the binoculars on something they could be used for a short time without a tripod.
Regarding terrestrial viewing, if I compare my 10x50 6.5 degree Nikon Action EX to the Oberwerk 20x80LW, I think that there is a place for both of them in my kit. The 20x80LW's nicely take
over to provide a surprising closer level of viewing information. An example would be the Nikons
did show a nice view of the side of a mountain, but the Oberwerks could likely have showed sheep or people in that same view. Before the arrival of the 20x80's I had no idea what to expect.
Once the skies clear, I'll give the balance of my report.
