Celestron 130mm S.L.T. tripod damage

Gia sas,
After 8 years, the Celestron 130mm SLT tripod has been damaged ( leg lock) and I have applied the mount to Sky-Watcher tripod EQ5 .

Here is the result

Good mod. And you can salvage that tripod by applying a shaft collar or bicycle seat clamp to the lower leg. I posted some pix of that over on this thread:

The SLT mounts do ride nicely on the EQ-5 tripod, very stable.
The best lightweight modification I have found is to replace the stock tripod with a EQ-2 or EQ-3 aluminium tripod for better height and stability.
These tripods can be stabilized quite well for under 20€ and a couple hours of time.
