So when the EVScope made the news, it got me wondering. Why not do augmented reality astronomy for outreach using off the shelf gear? Can run various mounts, numerous FOVs, higher resolution, and so on. The idea simmered in the back of my mind as life and gear issues took priority. Over the past week I've had some time to dedicate to the project. I ran a super wide static test, a wide field alt/az live test, and tonight I ran a 1 degree FOV live test on an EQ mount. Even with a 1 degree FOV I was able to directly identify stars, planets, DSOs, and lunar features (sorta) with detailed information. Even real time satellite identification with detailed info was possible. Here's a screen cap from the live stream I did for the EQ test;

Can you please elaborate some more? What are you actually doing here? Overlaying Stellarium on a camera view? Just curious. It looks quite interesting. :)

That's exactly what I'm doing. Even used it to identify dim DSOs during live stacking in SharpCap (Stellarium's sky is 100% transparent in this setup). I plan to put together a guide/article going over what settings I use so other's can utilize it.

Funny you should mention that. While not glasses per se, I do plan to implement this in an mounted AR viewer project. So basically what you see in the video, in a big AR box.
