Hi all. Great news. With our newest member Pitsmoor Col from Yorkshire, we have just reached 700 registered members, and with a day and a half to go before the end of the year. And this isn't just luck. Gordon has started the TSS, with security, lots of activities, and everything works! And the new Portal is just fantastic. And credit also goes to the friendly and knowledgeable veteran folks on here, who really go the extra mile to help all the newcomers on here. Thanks everybody, and have a Happy New Year.

Doesn't Pitsmoor Col from Yorkshire deserve some kind of "prize" for being # 700?

Hi Seawolfe. You probably remember the standing joke on the old forum, when a member reached a numerical milestone, they got a free forum T-shirt.
However, as I type this, we are now at 704 members, and we have several hours to go yet. Congratulations to all for the great success of this forum, and let's keep it rolling.

I call it escape velocity, and this forum has achieved it. A lot of websites start out with some fanfare and then fade away, whereas TSS is gradually getting more popular and I think Gordon is in it for the long haul. And Marshall, don't forget the free parking spot at the TSS headquarters.

I already have a t-shirt design in mind. If we make them for sale to the general forum membership and et al (which I have no problem heading up), we could use the sales to offset the future cost of storage space and server needs. Also, it will give us the opportunity to send out free t-shirts. Of course, there are probably tax considerations here I have yet to delve into.

Cheers and Happy New Years,

An excellent idea Michael. Given the nature of this hobby that makes a lot of sense, so t-shirts and hoodies, but no free hoodies.

Hi Michael and all. I forgot about the free parking space at the forum headquarters. I was going to press on about the t-shirt, but Gordon already has his hands full. But, by golly, if some of you can help design a t-shirt in black with the TSS welcome banner logo, and with something like "I Love Astronomy" and/or "Keep Looking Up", or whatever, count me in.

Since this is where this discussion started I'll keep it here. Thought maybe I should make a new post in Off-Topic or for the Mods only, but Nah!
So for your consideration (mostly appreciation) the new TSS T-Shirt/Hoodie design.
Here's the front

Here's the simple back

I like it JT!

The second version is pretty cool too!

Whichever one you and the team choose, I think that several hundred would be sold. I'm down!

Ever thought about a big get together? I have chatted with many of you for years. It would be great to meet some of you!

Thanks,
Jim

Hmm. Perhaps some of TSS's members would volunteer some of their awesome astrophotography images to be featured on a TSS t-shirt?
