i'm looking to complete my filter wheel as well i was set out to make use of my adc that almost never use anymore, i found it tiresome swapping out the colour camera to calibrate it.
little unsure what filter would be best for me.i only have a 5 pos fw , atm l rgb, i can swap out the l and install two ir filters. i think you need to pass both uv and ir for the adjustment to work, i was wondering if other filters can do this instead of just the w47 which passes uv/ blue and ir on the other end while blocking everything else.
( i just answered my own question, i checked the spectrum data sheets, proplanet 807,742 only pass above those spectrum so i guess they are not suitable for adc collimation for uv-ir)
filters i'm looking at:
#47 Violet (wratten 47 filter)
ProPlanet IR 807
ProPlanet IR 742
proplanet 642 bp
so i if i had to pick two, what would be best ? are there other alternatives for mono adc collimation, and what other uv/ir pass through filters are out there ? i've read that 807 can be pretty dim but more suitable for bigger scopes, i image at about f30-f40 on a 12'' sct. venus and and some details in ir for jupiter is the goal as well as mono adc adjustment.
here are some of the pros of ir imaging , less affected atmospheric distortion
nothing but sales and clouds, so i guess it can't hurt to spend before the holidays.

it seems 807 has good results on venus
642 is a reasonable lum filter that passes r and ir
the wratten was about $19 so i got that
and ordered the 742 ir for the dimmer targets.
and i got a better 2x barlow (tele vue 2x) which i know i'm due for because the cheapy i have had for the pass 4+ years introduces minor reflections/artifacts when set to close to the chip
now all i need is to ditch the 5 x and buy a 8 x fw and a buy a u venus , spending more time buying stuff then actually imaging this season.go away clouds!

A little late self christmas gift, I finally got my items after the holidays have gone through and the post office re opened.
The tele vue is realy good, all painted internals, quality barrel with a nice thumb screw.it came with one of those computer stickers haha, I'll put it next to the Intel inside sticker on my pc, or maybe deck out my scope with it.

Just noticed your post. Our local club spent a lot of time imaging mars during the last apparition (is that the correct term). We used a C-14 with a TeleView 2x with an ASI174MM and the ASI ADC.
The IR filters are good and tend to provide the most detail. We found it was a lot better than using luminance. We didn't have the IR 807 at the time but I suspect it would be as good or better than the 742 with a large telescope.
The #47 was largely a waste of time. Most, if not all of those do not block IR so you would also need to add a blocking filter if you want to get anything relevant out of it. We attempted using it for Mars 'blue clearing' but didn't seem to find anything.
One thing to note is that we image from near Saint Louis, Missouri. Seeing is usually terrible on good nights and Mars only managed to get about 30 degrees high. This time around it will be nearly double (and hopefully dust-storm-less). I think I was the first to submit an image with the storm to ALPO and it went down hill from there.
yeah the #47 lets in uv and ir with violet,i suspect some leakage in other areas.i purchased it just for adc collimation for a mono camera because of the separation/gap between of uv and ir, it should spit out two images with the prism .
ah yes, the dust storm was a pain , i did enjoy it a little bit actually but mars was at prime distance for detail !

IS that graph actually what got out of the #47 you bought? We looked at several of these (actually 8 of them as one guy when crazy and bought 7 different ones). We found them to be all a little different. I still have all the specs output on them if you know what brand you bought and want to try using it for something other than the ADC.
The graph is not related to My brand, just a general idea of a #47 spectrum,The one I have is just a cheap inhouse rebrand..I don't expect much performance from it. I understand there are many types and brands, I come across some info that Kodak was making some for the front of camera lenses and slides.
