6V power supply
Im looking at making a 6V dc power supply for the CG4.
I cannot locate one anywhere , they all seem to be 12V.
ive thought about a big AH 12V bike battery and attaching a plug socket as i would then be able to use the mains adapter, but this seems a bit over kill.
whats everyone doing regards to this before i rush out and buy a battery

Re: 6V power supply
ive spoken to the one of the guys here who runs drones not the DJI stuff but big 12 prop stuff, he said buy 2 6v 7ah bats and wire them togther and have a 12V and 6V in the same box with 2 sets of leads.
ive found the batteries for less than £20 bit of wiring and soldering
still gonna look into that option Yobbo

Re: 6V power supply
I have been considering this same problem with the LX70. The battery pack has been adequate so far, but I would much rather have a more reliable rechargeable solution. The only thing I've found so far are 6v SLA batteries which I could probably build a neat DIY solution fromHobbit1066 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 10:28 am Im looking at making a 6V dc power supply for the CG4.

Yobbo' solution with a 12v unit would let me accommodate 12v and 6v accessories though.
There has to be something out there that will do what I need though without the DIY hassle. I'm still looking.

Re: 6V power supply
Not sure why a manufacturer would choose 6 volts as a basis of design.
The only motivation I can think of is encouraging folks to buy their proprietary battery pack.
If it were me I would get a 6 volt 'golf cart' battery and use that.
I have had bad experiences relying on 'mains' power. One time I had a power glitch, only half a second, but it caused to software to disconnect from the cooled camera. The camera warmed up too fast and cracked a protective lens!

Re: 6V power supply
it's important to maintain your lipos, ie don't store them fully charged or over discharge themHobbit1066 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:20 pm ive spoken to the one of the guys here who runs drones not the DJI stuff but big 12 prop stuff, he said buy 2 6v 7ah bats and wire them togther and have a 12V and 6V in the same box with 2 sets of leads.

I recommend a low voltage cutoff to avoid damaging the battery . other then that , if you're willing to check their voltage levels and top them up before they go flat then you'll be alright doing so. you can also buy a voltage readout lcd which might even be more handy.

Re: 6V power supply
You can buy stepdown convertors for next to nothing on eBay and other places. The only issue with these is that they can take some time to be delivered so order several. These are great for powering various devices (DSLRs come to mind) off of a normal 12V battery.
