My Orion XX16G is supposed to have WiFi in it as well. I have never gone looking for it. Maybe i will now just to see what it looks like.Flextube Scope wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:56 am Hi Mike,
Much appreciate your comment. The question of a hand-held unit vs the mobile app in conjunction with WiFi connection goes surely down to a personal preference. I like the idea of a hand-held controller as you can use it almost without looking at it once you get used to the layout of the buttons. Having the option of WiFi may give you a possibility of using various apps/software to control and interact with the telescope. For me, ideally I would like to have both options included. I had a look at Sky Watcher US website as well and one would draw a conclusion that the 250p GoTo telescope comes with both options incorporated in the same unit. If that's the case that is a great situation. I don't know if different regions of the world sell differently optioned units but I am thinking of getting the hand-held version. Local dealers sell the WiFi add-on unit for Sky Watcher GoTo scopes at around AUD100. I can always add it on if the locally sold hand-held version of the scope does not feature a WiFi unit built in.
Anyway, once again thank you for your reply. Hope we will interact again at some stage.
I need to look at the manual and see where it is even located in the controller. I am sure it is in there somewhere. Essentially, even though mine is an Orion branded scope, i am fairly certain the hardware and software are pretty much the same as the Sky Watcher. I was cleaning the contacts on the controller and the board on the inside actually has Celestron printed right on it.Flextube Scope wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:45 am Try it out. It will be interesting to hear how much of a different experience it is.
