400 flextube back under the stars

400 flextube back under the stars

For what seems like an eternity i have finally had the time to get the 400 Flextube back out, moons killing it a bit but just to be out for an hour or 2 is bliss 🙂 im so out of touch with general scope kit these days, whats the best one-stop goto filter to enhance visual views in a bortle 5 sky please ? I use ES 68 deg eps ? clear skies all

It really depends on what you are looking at. Most of the time you are just trying to darken the sky a bit, in that case you are looking at a good old fashioned broad band filter. Throw nebula into the game now you are going to want a Narrowband or Oiii filter. In some cases you may even need an HBeta, but that is usually the last one to get

Back in the day when I did a lot of visual work, I had a Lumicon Deep Sky filter. Seemed to work well under my light polluted skies.

Ok, those glow in the dark hockey pucks are cool, i admit it, but that seems like a lot of light to me.

To be fair Mike, the photo was a lot brighter than in the flesh ;) the LED lighting is just right for visual use and doesnt impact the dark adaption at all for me :)
