I'm Zacronaut, a young astronomer with a very strong passion for the stars. For the past 6 years or so, I've been using a Skywatcher 114 that's been through the ranks, the tube got caved in by my brothers hammer, the equatorial mount doesn't work... A benefit of the red dot finder breaking 3 years ago is that I've become awfully skilled at finding objects at high Magnification with just my eye .
Anywho.. For my 18th birthday I've been saving up for my dream telescope of 5 years, the Skywatcher 250PX Dobsonian! I can't wait to use it, and rest assured I'll be posting much more often when it arrives (you'll know when it's here as the country will go cloudy ).
I already have some questions regarding stacking software and I'm sure everyone is super helpful.
Thank you for welcoming me to the group and I look forward to interacting with fellow astronomers!
Keep your brother's hammer away from your new Dobby!

Hey Zacronaut, welcome to TSS! I don't even wanna ask how your brothers hammer got introduced to your scope...
A 250P dob, nice. Like Mike Q said, a scope for life! The views are going to blow you away! As for your questions, ask away. There's a lot of knowledgeable/helpful and very friendly people on here, believe me.
Again, welcome and looking forward to hearing about your views; after the clouds clear of course...
All the best,
Mark

Welcome at TSS!
A 10 inch Dob is a good and nice scope! Keep your finding skills alive. The standard finder is very useful to determine what the star field looks like compared to an atlas or app. You will come to think of it as a nice extra help.

Greetings Zacronaut. Nice to hear you are soon getting your dream telescope. I can imagine the anticipation. And a 10 inch !
That's great. Looking forward to hearing about it. My dream telescope back in the early 1960s was the old Edmond Scientific
3 inch reflector with wooden tripod.
The cost was 29.99. Although I couldn't afford one at the time I found one many years later ar a yard sale. Congratulations on your efforts to save your money for the scope you want and I hope you get many years of
enjoyment.

How can you tell? Isn't the country cloudy all the time?
