Our Top 15
Nine contests were held during the year, with a total of 92 questions, 8x10 questions & 1x12 questions. Forty (40) different members entered throughout the year. The three medal winners above scored more than 8.5/10 averaged across all quizzes and they entered every quiz.
In the aggregate points competition, those that didn't enter regularly obviously finished with a lower aggregate. Looking at final results, even skipping one competition put an entrant out of reach of first and second places and to finish third, they would have been able to get 2-3 questions wrong through the rest of the year.
Conversely, those that entered every competition gave themselves the best chance of finishing in the top section of the ladder. You may recall, some of the quiz questions in the first half of the year were much more difficult than the end of the year. Earlier, I was aiming for par scores of 5-6/10 early in the year, 7-8/10 later in the year. Some of the difficult questions early in the year required calculations, but post quiz comments indicated people were just guessing so I eliminated those questions. These Q's typically took a lot more time to work out the question and suitable false answers. If people were just guessing, there was no point. I have been drawing questions from a very broad "scope" of astronomical areas. Any score over 50% demonstrates excellent and broad general astronomical knowledge. Many of the people who came under 50% did so because they only skipped a few competitions. There are some people who scored very high scores 80-100% in most competitions they entered but only entered a small number of the competitions.

Lower scores are the result of skipping rounds not consistently low scores.
Remember, if you haven't played, you can still try the December quiz.
I'll round off that comp at the end of the month.
Seasons Greetings
See you all next year!
