Show us your observing chair

#1

Post by Caldwell 14 »

I am convinced that the most underrated and unregarded pieces of astronomy fit is the humble, and sometimes not so humble observation chair.

As I discovered a number of years ago, a cheap or poorly designed chair can have serious consequences, I managed to break 3 ribs in a freak astronomical accident. I had a big dob at the time and was trying to locate M31 at the zenith when I unbalanced and fell backwards and landed my ribs in contact with the upright bolted seat….

Anyway, I will show you mine if you show me yours and tell me why you choose it.
Scope: Tele Vue 102
Mount: Gibraltar HD4
Eyepieces: Nagler Zoom 3mm-6mm; Delite 7mm, 9mm & 13mm; Plossl 32mm.
Observing Chair: Berlebach NIX II

A few of filters, er…. that’s it :Astronomer1:

I made this for my wife. She occasionally gets dizzy and wanted something. She will use it, I will lean on it as i prefer to stand
