Antique store find 7x35

#1

Post by Ylem »

Today while browsing a local antique store in Point Pleasant, NJ I found a pair of Sears 7x35 in amazing condition.
Beautiful case, with original lense covers and in perfect collimation. 25 usd

They weigh almost the same as my modern 9x63
Clear Skies,

Nice! I had a pair of Sears 7x35s, puchased around 1980, but wrecked them. C'est la vie...

Very cool Jeff; love the retro look to them. I'd say those are a well-deserved bithday gift to yourself! Bet they're made in Japan too, probably good quality!

Hope they work as well as they look,
Mark

I thought they'd be made in Japan. Tasco, Jason and a lot of "department store" scopes had glass made by Towa. On a lot of these the objectives were good/very good, but suffered from crappy .965 eyepieces. At least with the bino's you don't have the eyepiece problem!

Not surprised there was no CA either :D

Very cool. Back in the day my dad sold insurance for Allstate which at the time was owned by SEARS. We had lots of SEARS products around our house and the Christmas catalog was always well worn by Dec. 25th each year. We had the exact same binos growing up. Not sure what ever happened to them because I didn't run across them when cleaning out my parent's home after he passed.
