The first main feature of the nPAE 2” Flip Mirror is the rear exit port. This is the straight through port taking light directly from your optics when the mirror is raised. There are a few tricks you can employ for different attachments here. The Maia Lock / Telescope Back allows insertion of 2” camera noses and with four locking positions, 2 flat point screws and 2 thumb screws so you can adjust any socket wiggle on the x and y axis. The parfocal ring allows extension of the back focus up to + 4.5mm or can be removed for -5mm. Removing the parfocal ring reveals the first threaded attachment option which is M55 x 0.75 pitch. The second threaded attachment is achieved by unscrewing the whole Maia Lock. You now can thread attach directly to the Flip Mirror body at M68 x 1 pitch. Doing this also removes 32mm of back focus.

The nPAE 2 inch filter system is unique to all nPAE’s 2 inch products. For visual astronomy you can double up your filters and use say a polariser at the front and then hydrogen alpha or coloured filters in the sleds to tease out finer details, then switch to narrow band for astrophotography. The Top Port of the nPAE 2” Flip Mirror has all the features of the rear port (it too is the Maia Lock / Telescope back) with the addition of the top plate being fully removable for mirror / internal cleaning or inspection. The key bonus here is that you can clean without dismantling the rest of your equipment. This is done by loosening the 4 retaining M4 grub screws and pulling the plate upward. Mirror cleaning and internal box cleaning is now super easy!

Flip Mirror Launch Day 5: As with all our 2” products the Flip Mirror comes with certified optics. The mirror is 1/10th wave or better and have a Strehl ratio of 0.9. Remove the weak link in your optical train and enjoy unrivalled views.

The Flip Mirror is oversized so the light cone is always fully accommodated. The mirror knob rotates to move the mirror, revealing your camera for astrophotography!

Protecting your Flip Mirror during transport is the nPAE medium Cerberus case. This super tough case is crush resistant, dust resistant, impact resistant and water resistant to 1m! The Cerberus Case is rated at IP67 and IK-08.
