One year ago today, I observed my 15th total solar eclipse. Getting there involved a 5000km, 10-day drive from the eastern states to the North West Cape, the only landfall in Australia.

Totality kicked off with a brilliant diamond ring.

.

The inner corona was typical of a solar maximum with radially symmetric streamers and many prominences.

This longer exposure captured streamers to 7 solar radii from the limb.

The composite above was stitched from just three exposures
while that below was stitched from just two exposures.

Finally, after 54s of totality, another dazzling diamond ring at 3rd contact.

In this ultrawide image, the lunar umbra can be seen engulfing the sky.

Three nights later, I captured this image of the moon and Venus.
