New Image: Abell 1656_Coma Cluster

Hello!

Abell 1656 (Coma Cluster) contains over 1000 identified galaxies (my field is too small to include them all). The central region is dominated by two supergiant elliptical galaxies: NGC 4874 and NGC 4889).
I captured this cluster in 2020, with the OSC camera and the SW newton 6" F5. Now I wanted to see how much I could dig with a newton 8" F4 and the monochrome camera. The exposures were quite short (180s with gain 75), for DSO it would have been 5 minutes, but I would have burned more stars.
Looking online for pictures of this cluster, I saw that a quasar was also detected in the field, QSO [HB89] 1256+280, located at an approximate distance of 11.3 billion light years (+/-1 billion). And I have it in the picture too! (annotated as Q 1256+2804).
I put PI to annotate the whole image and look what it gave me:
"Layer NGC-IC: 64 entities
PGC layer: 478 entities
Layer Milliquas: 538 entities"
It was not even able to write the names of all the detected galaxies. And quasars are a lot! For some annotated quasars nothing can be seen, but there are enough that are visible, especially if you zoom in 200-300%.
Unfortunately, the annotation greatly increased the size of the picture (6MB jpg), so I had to reduce it to 50%. Anyway, our site reduce the resolution of large images. Here is the image in full resolution: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xwEhg92hxfmQHytC6
Total exposure: 11 hours and 30 minutes. Omegon 203/800 and ASI1600MM.
Clear skies!

Beautiful. It's fun to zoom in and look at the details in some of the small galaxies. Such a fantastic field.

That is an awesome image Marius! Masive amount of galaxies!

Congratulations on catching the Quasar. Amazing to capture something so old and distant!
