New Image: Sharpless 46

Sh2-46 (LBN 58, Gum 80, RCW 158 and others) is an emission nebula located approximately 6,500 light-years away in Serpens Cauda. This one is around three degrees from the Eagle Nebula (M16).

Luminance – 12x600s – 120 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

240 minutes total exposure – 4 hours

Imaged on August 17th, 2023 at the Danville Conservation Area (New Florence, Missouri) and April 12th, 2024 at the Whetstone Creek Conservation Area (Williamsburg, Missouri) with a SBIG ST-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT90EDT at f/6.7 603mm.
