New Image: M53 and The Ghost

#1

Post by sdbodin »

The Ghost is NGC 5053, an almost not there globular cluster. Used the Rokinon 135mm at f2 for 10/30seconds thru Asi1600mc-cool OSC really not enough to get the Ghost but I was just getting M53 for my on-going Messier project. Imaged last night as the clouds started to intrude, still warm 62F at midnight, seeing terrible but at 5"/pixel that didn't bother this set-up. Image 20% center crop of full frame, but posted full size.

Excellent image Steve. This globular combo is one of my favorite visual targets in the night sky as they provide a very large contrast in visibility.
