Eclipse in Miramichi, NB

This won't win any contests, but, since I resolved to view the spectacle instead of fiddling with equipment, I am reasonably happy with how it turned out, except for the framing.

Location: Miramichi airport, NB.
Camera: Pentax IST-DL
Lens: 55mm prime
Filter: Thousand Oaks film in home-made frame
Mount: fixed tripod, no tracking
Timing: wristwatch and finger on remote shutter release
Frame alignment: I just used the natural motion of the sky. Framing is as it came out of the camera, hence the goof at totality!

I was near Niagara falls, and I don't have much to show at all.

Would you say that in your judgment, the appearance of the corona isn't as dramatic as it was in 2017?
I've been searching for totality pictures this week (seeking a vicarious TSE experience I guess).
None of them seem to contain the fine structure that 2017's did with the "three horns".

I wouldn't know. I never saw the 2017 total eclipse.

I was initially underwhelmed by the appearance of the corona. It was just a ring.

What struck me was how @#$% bright the inner corona was. It was way brighter than I expected, and I probably shouldn't have looked at it as much as I did. My eyes still feel a bit dazzled. (By all accounts they should recover in a couple of weeks.) Apparently a solar-maximum corona is much brighter than a solar-minimum or mid-phase corona.

The brightness of the inner corona masked the detail of the outer corona to the naked eye or the naive photographer. When I looked for it, there was detail out to several solar diameters. Good for you Kathy, and I like your simplistic approach to the AP side; gives you time to enjoy it!

I didn't see the eclipse but I got to see lots of clouds!!
