Good work, Joe. There needs to be more of such action.

We're committed to Bandera, Texas (near San Antonio) and it's not looking good. We can't change as between the eclipse and spring break we have had difficulty finding RV parks with available space. While we booked Bandera a year ahead we didn't think we'd have trouble en route. We'll make a run from the NM border to Bandera tomorrow, stay until E+1 to avoid the exodus, and then scoot westward.

But our road trip has been fun even if the clouds interfere. Today we went through Carlsbad Caverns. Oh my. Almost as good as a total eclipse.

Well, my plans have changed a bit.
Was going to head up to NY, but Totality is about 5 hours away.

I will stay local and head over to a good friend's house whom is quite disabled, he is pretty much a shut-in.
Got a bunch of glasses, the 80mm frac (white light filtered) and the PST.
Both of our wives are preparing a fun menu :)

Should be a fun day, I think we are about 91% here in NJ.
Clear Skies,

Hi JayTee,

With the eclipse now 72hrs away, I did a bit of a deeper dive into the weather models this morning my time. The ECMWF model and the CMCE models are hitting their accurate forecast windows.

Here is a detailed post with my thoughts on best locations.

viewtopic.php?p=269695#p269695

The NAM model (North American Mesoscale Forecast System ) is a high spatial resolution shorter but forward time forecast is almost in range. I'll look at it when it opens on pivotal. Any move northeast up the path would benefit you.

Currently North Central Ohio looks like this. The low pressure has been pushed out leaving us fairly clear skies

No chance, due to how this system is moving we are getting
It in waves. Clouds, then clear, we are now back to 100 percent cloud cover, but i can see clear skies on the horizon. All i am hoping for is that it clears out like it is supposed to tonight so i can get a last look at Orion

I have a colleague in Plano, Texas who has bought solar glasses for tomorrow’s event for him and his wife. He is fortunate enough to be in the path of totality. Last time I saw a total was in 1999 where it hit Cornwall in south west England. It was cloudy at the precise point of the eclipse so saw nothing despite having a couple of cameras setup. I remember the birds going quiet and it going very dark. In the distance on the horizon I could see the light illuminating the area of not quite totality. Then it started raining. A couple of minutes later the light returned and the birds woke up. 15 minutes later the clouds parted, azure blue skies and the moon talking a bite out of the sun was visible.
Best of luck to all of you lucky to be in the path of totality and hope you see a great sight.

Since I have to be in-office tomorrow, I whipped up an eclipse box. 6x30 finder, medium size priority mail cardboard box, piece of white paper, although I might switch the paper to a piece of buff colored file folder. Easy to carry in and out. LOL.

Well it's over and done. Have to give the weather gurus at channel 4 out of Columbus some kudos for nailing the forecast a week out as you couldn't ask for better weather for April in Ohio.

All in all it was a good show even with the few high thin clouds.
