03/24/24 Sun in CaK - 4 hour difference

#1

Post by Thefatkitty »

Hey again all! I'm having a very clear day, the daughter-unit is out and the wifey-unit is sleeping. That just leaves me and ol' Sol...

I went out this morning and took a few sets of frames; the one I stacked was created at 11:27AM. I went out at about 3:30 this afternoon, and stacked the one created at 3:31PM. OK, 4 hours and 4 minutes; so sue me

Here's the two stacks. The first is the morning, second the afternoon. The winds had picked up by the afternoon, so it's not a good a stack as this AM when it was calm. The little things...!!

And for sunspot reference:

Not much difference upon first glance. However, when you get into the spots...

I've been wanting to do something like this for a bit. I was surprised at the differences in so short a time frame. The big ball of gas really is dynamic!

So that concludes Thefatkitty's science experiment for Sunday, March 24, 2024. Until next time....

All the best everyone,

Wow! Mark.. Your images really show how dynamic the Sun is. Great work on your experiment and images.

very nice comparison, it's fascinating the speed at which the structures change on our friend helios.
