Earth Hour is happening on Saturday 23 March, 2024 at 8.30pm around the world - so how can you get involved?

The annual Earth Hour, spearheaded by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), is observed around the world.
Previous years have seen Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, and the Sydney Opera House turn out the lights.
The WWF suggests individuals use the 60 minutes, between 20:30 and 21:30, "to do something positive for the planet".

Well here in SA we have the lights purposefully(load shedding, look it up) turned off for two hours at a time for as much as two to three times a day, we do earth hour with gusto!

No. Until I read your message I didn’t even know that it was on. But then I am permanently on Earth hour. My house runs on average on about 3-5 kWh per day. Power costs much more out here than in the city. So it pays not to waste it.

Very little light pollution here so I would not notice any difference.

Since moving to Batizovce our home and shops are 100% off grid (wind and solar generation) but we still shut the lights off for the hour.

I hadn't heard of this but it sounds very interesting and important. Doing something for mother earth is what we should strive for.
