Aka Arp 27 in UMa, a bright face-on twin-armed spiral. Nice detail in the branching arms a wonderful sight. Bright moonlight washed some of the faint detail, but satisfied to get out after the brutal winter. Only one hour total on the pic.

Detail, Meade 16 LX200 at f6.2, 2500mm efl. Atik 460ex mono, 15/2 min lum, 5/2 min ea. RGB, all 2x2 binned for 0.7 sec/pixel, bad pixel map applied, nothing else. Posted image full scale, 20% edge crop.

Clear skies,
Steve

Hi Steve @sdbodin ,
Very nice image. There is green/purple fringing in the core which I presume is a processing artefact. You could try a purple fringe software removal, or, given the overall lack of colour in the subject, I'd be temped to just make it a mono image. I also think that some AI sharpening could bring out more details. Would you mind if I have a play with it and post a reprocess?

Yup go for it, bright moon messed with a lot, blue fog prevalent.

I'll send you a 16bit TIF, if I figure it out.

I can't open the tif file. It shows as broken. It probably exceeded the maximum file size for the forum.
Here is my attempt on the original jpg posted.
