Feb19, 2024 - Another massive Active Region 3590

It looks like another massive active region (3590) is just starting to rotate into view on the eastern limb of the Sun.
I wonder if it will be as active as AR3576 turned out to be?

can you ask it for an earth directed cme for some low latitude auroras please?

Binoculars; Celestron Skymaster 18-40 X 80 zoom, Bushnell7-15 X 35 zoom, a couple of older single speed Bushnells that ride around in the car for weather spotting clarification
Scopes; Tiny little Mak-Cass Celestron c90 spotter scope that lets me count the moons of Jupiter and with which I can see Saturns rings in Mickey Mouse phase
Old Meade 1000mm f/11 that was missing the finder scope and ring so I rigged one onto the barrel using duct tape and a bit of cardboard and that actually works and I can count the moons of Jupiter with this one too.
Meade 6" reflector,(really elderly), found at a yard sale, the tube is a bucket of rust and corroded mirror but the mount and tripod will be recoverable so hooray for that.
Cameras; Mamiya medium format 645 with a couple of polaroid backs and a series of wide angle to 50mm lenses
Konica-Minolta 35mm,Sony alpha dslr's, up to the a900 full frame, mostly got them used because I don't have much money.

I saw that today too Greg on the SOHO site. I was looking forward to getting that today, as I'm a few hours ahead of the images from the spacecraft, so it would have rotated into view even more.

Clear skies here from sunrise to a bit after 1PM. Guess who got in at 1:30? :lol:

Hopefully tomorrow for me, and hopefully you get off some shots as well!

3590 is looking like a massive region. I hope we have a few large areas like this on April 8th for the eclipse day. It will make for more interesting partial phase images like this massive spot from Oct. 23, 2014.

Was all cloud here but I am watching and ready for another chance at AR3590,

The region minutes ago from goes...

They are saying an X 6.3 was had.

I was watching the sunset last night, and there was a lot of high-altitude hazy clouds to the west, so the sun was a pale orange ball: with a nice, naked eye black dot...
Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me, but I still think it is pretty cool seeing a sunspot easily naked-eye. :)
Telescopes: 12" f5 dob, Celestron CPC800, 150mmf5 Celestron achro, Tak TSA102, TV76, ETX125...
Binos: Steiner Wildlife XP 10x26, Swarovski 8x30 Habicht, Zeiss SFL 8x40, Vanguard Endeavour 10.5x45, Fuji FMTR-SX 10x50, Tak 22x60, Orion Resolux 15x70
Eyepieces: way too many (is that possible?), but I do like my TV 32mm plossl, 13mm Nagler T6, 27mm Panoptic and 3-6mm Nagler zoom, plus Fujiyama 18mm and 25mm orthos and Tak 7.5mm LE

I was checking the farside images today because of a couple clear sky days ahead here and it looks like this AR is still active and strong, one source reporting a 4th time around is very possible and that was before the strengthening seen in todays model.

Maybe it will be the transiting AR on The Day, who knows but its an awesome day today to image it if you have a remote rig on Mars 😄
