Hey all, hope you're well :D

I got in today from work at 1PM, did few things, and when the Sun cleared my tree at about 2:30 I went out to try and fix my recent issue with my Ca-K setup.

This is the scope and mount I use. The mount is an old CG4 that came with my 1997 C80-HD. Works great. The scope is a William Optics 61mm with a 2" Explore Scientific diagonal, an Antares 2" to 1.25 twist lock adapter with an Antares twist-lock 1.5 barlow, ending in my ZWO 174MM. I've been using this setup since last August; take it and my laptop outside and I'm done in 10 minutes.

Until last Thursday. I took everything out, set it up, found the Sun and went to look at my laptop, expecting ol' Sol to be showing up. Not this time. Long story short, I had to up the exposure in SharpCap from my usual 10ms to a bit over 400ms, then I got a white screen. From nothing to too much!

So today I did some playing around. I removed the barlow for a wider FOV, set it all up, and had to go through the above again. However, if I waited about 20 secs, the image decreased in brightness. I turned down the exposeure and found focus, and was back to my usual 10ms exposure. So that should be sort of fixed, right?

Yeah, until you reboot your PC  I went through all of the above again with the exposure stuff, but I had to move the focuser in and then back out to where it was before it came to focus. Huh???? What I don't get too is why after 8 months of "no problems" this should happen? And even why? The folks at Telescopes Canada where I got the camera from did get back to me yesterday and said they would take care of the RMA, etc.

I'm not sure what to do. It does work, but why the extra work?

Things that keep me up at night...!

Anyways, here is todays Sun after all that. Not very active at the moment, but at the moment neither am I

Thanks for looking/reading. I noticed there's a nice conjunction of the Moon and Jupiter happening out my back door at the moment. I'm so tired but it's so clear....

All the best,
Mark
