A large barred spiral in Ursa Major,
app. 45 Mly distant. Nice detail in the three main arms emanating from a rather poorly defined ring around the central bar. Haven't imaged this one before, really a nice surprise as it is quite photogenic. Shot last night, yippy clear again, seeing good, but hi-cirrus fogging the view occasionally. Only an hour total exposure, probably could use some
Ha too as a couple hydrogen pink spots showed up in the arms.
Specifics, Meade 16 LX200 at f6.2 thru Atik 460ex mono, 15/2 min lum, 5/2 min ea.
RGB, all 2x2 binned for 0.7"/pixel, bad pixel map applied, nothing else. Autoguided with Meade 4 in
SCT at 1000mm efl at 2 sec rate. Captured and stacked with Nebulosity, final in Photoshop, image edge cropped 20% but posted full scale.
Clear skies,
Steve
