The town nowadays is called El-Ashmunein I visited there back in the 2010's. There is.an imposing gateway to the old Temple of Thoth surmounted by statues of baboons on the site. Thoth was the god of wisdom and writing and represented by an Ibis bird. The Greeks associated Thoth with Hermes, whom the Romans called Mercury.

Ramses II was big on building memorials to himself. My understanding is that some of his monuments were built by others and rebranded by him.

Eyepieces: way too many (is that possible?), but I do like my TV 32mm plossl, 13mm Nagler T6, 27mm Panoptic and 3-6mm Nagler zoom, plus Fujiyama 18mm and 25mm orthos and Tak 7.5mm LE
