Sun and Moon from a year ago

Post by Thefatkitty »

Hey all, hope your wether is better than mine!

Clouds and rain here. I got in early and was going through some photos of ol' Sol when I saw these from March 7, 2023. Ok, but today's only the sixth; how is that a year?
Well, this year was a leap year, so technically it's been 365 days... ;)

The Sun in white light with my C80-HD, Baader 3.8 OD film, Solar Continuum filter and UV/IR cut filters shot with a Canon EOS 550D (T2i).

The "latest" spot on that image was AR3247. Today, AR3604 came around, so that been 357 new spots in a year. 8 short of one a day. You go, Solar Cycle 25!

That same night it was still clear, so I used the same setup minus the solar film and shot the full Moon. A Solar Continuum and UV/IR cut really work well with that.

Time for dinner; I wont bore you any longer

All the best,
Mark

Nice images Mark, waiting for an opportunity but just a hazy mess out there this morning.

Got some new filters and solar glasses today in the mail so I'm looking forward to whats up coming with the skies indeed...

Best of luck all !
