Finally got my Seestar, now it's just waiting for clear skies. The images I've seen so far give me hope that I'll be able to at least come close to the image quality I had with the old setup. Changed my signature and I need to change the picture.

Let's hope your skies clear soon Kenneth.

There's a lot of interest in seeing what these setups can do!

So far my SS performs great ! All were edited in my stock iPad photo editor and I played around with my newly acquired Lightroom but not very much. Skies were around Bortle 5 in my city backyard.

Dang it! Just when I thought I wasn't going to spend any more money on telescopes for awhile! Maybe it's time for me to downsize so I can justify owning this!

You won't regret it, it fits in well with my refractors and my WL / Ha solar viewing. It is quickly becoming another simpler branch of astronomy ! And all for about $600 C. You talk about gng / point and shoot, this is the ultimate ! AND once set up you can do it all from the warmth / dryness of your house, lol ! PS: All night long, lol !

Note also that all my photos are about 20 minutes or less ! This was overdone when I was familiarizing in Lightroom but what the heck.

I bought these as a compliment to the SS, the lens cap and dew / stray light shield are from AliExpress and the 2" filter holder is from the UK.

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. I've got a few things I could sell that could finance this.

Many of the EAA'ers using the SS and D2's are extending their photoing to an hour or a lot more rather than well less than an hour like many do. They are using a lot of the time consuming top of the line post processing / editing programs to enhance their results which you can see but the simple work looks pretty, darn good as well. Its whatever approach you want but its so fast and simple and really unbelieveably interesting / enjoyable ! And crazily cheap, lol !

Tonite after at least 2 weeks of rotten skies, in my backyard, they are going to be a clear Bortle 4-5, so my SS is finally going to have some fun. As a bit of an interesting test I am going to use my 2" Burgess Optical CX-4 Contrast Filter on a couple of galaxies and whatever rather than just the built in filter.

Last nite about midnite the humidity / poor skies were setting in, the Orion Neb was about 10° off the horizon and peeking around the side of my shed but I decided to give it a try anyway. Sure enough the SS took what it could see under the less than perfect position / seeing, it is pretty amazing and Lr did a little touching up but not a lot really ! PS: This was a 4 min. enhance, can you believe it, thats because my battery voltage dropped below 15%, the dew heater uses a lot of power !

I broke down and bought the Seestar for outreach and just fun around here. Been cloudy for 2 weeks since getting it but Sat night it was clear so I opened my den window and shot through the window at M42, also today the sun through the trees (it never gets above them this time of year)
The first image is the image that the S50 stacks in the scope and nothing done by me, 2nd is the fits images stacked in PI and finished in LR the 3rd is not M42 LOL but the sun today. You can also Zoom 2x and 4x for the sun moon and planets.
I might not always be right but I am never wrong, once I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken...

Shot the sun through some trees today, had no choice, anyhow the dark areas and the square blocky areas are from the branches waving in front of the sun, shot this only for the nice sunspot group at about 10 o'clock
This is with Baader solar film put in a 2in filter holder, it show the surface granulation better than the supplied filter, although without the yellow color.
Stacked in "autostakkert3" wavelets in "Registax 6" and finished in Photoshop CC.
