Arp 284 (VV 51) is part of Arp’s ‘Double Galaxies – Infall and Attraction’ class. This one consists of:

NGC 7714 (UGC 12699, PGC 71868, VV 51a and others) – the spiral at the right (west)

NGC 7715 (UGC 12700, PGC 71878, VV 51b and others) – the spiral at the left.

These appear to be located approximately 115 million light-years away in Pisces.

The bright star below this group is * 16 Psc (HIP 116495 and many others).

Luminance – 25x600s – 250 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

370 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 10 minutes

Imaged October 10th, 12th, 13th and 14th, 2023 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
