Our club's Christmas Quiz

#1

Post by Gfamily »

I gave a version of this quiz to our Astro Club this evening...
https://forms.gle/Nx77myfigWHk49316
I'll mark up and give (as close as I can to) a final result in the New Year.

Enjoy

Ouch. Tough quiz. I only got 19/40.
A few lucky guesses canceled out a few dumb mistakes.

Nice one G Fam, thanks. I'll have a go at it later when I've woken up!

Hi GFamily

Thanks, that was fun.

15/40 but some of my answers were correctly spelled, same capitalisation as your answers and still marked incorrect. Others I did misspell. When using Google forms, I abandoned text answers because there are just too many variations.

Have a merry Christmas

9/40. Actually I missed a couple that could have been deemed correct answers as I used the name of the mission without mentioning the additional suffix

Thanks Gfamily. Fun and challenging quiz

I'll be reviewing the responses some time over the next week to ensure that the scores are as accurate as a generous spirit can allow. The use of 'short text' fields for responses doesn't make it straightforward to make sure all reasonable variants get covered.

OK, not much of a movie buff, but 19/40. But I will give myself 4 more for spelling or other grammatical or trick question errors.

Fun, but tough,

Wow, that was a tough one! A fitting year-end quiz. It gave me 16/40, but I'll pick up one on spelling, so I'll claim 17. There was one that I was pretty pleased to know the correct answer to, and one where I should have stuck with my first guess.

As we're now well into the New Year I'm happy to announce the Winner and runners-up
And the victor, with a total score of 22.5 is...
Sparweb
With a very close runner up in sdbodin on 22
Then, admirable mentions to Graeme on 19 points and OzEclipse and KathyNS with 18 each.

The half point that swung it was due to getting half the name right for Hedy Lamarr.

Hi Owen,

Thanks very much for doing this. Anytime you want to have a swing at the TSS quiz, let me know. I'd love to have someone to do alternate months or even once every 3 or 4 months if you can't do bimonthly or even just as an occasional guest quizmaster. I feel like I am hitting a bit of a writers block with questions for the February quiz and beyond in preparation now.
