Last Jupiter sketch before Christmas?
All weather stations predicted a one-hour clear sky until 20.30 hrs. For a change they predicted it quite accurately. So out I went with my 102 mm F5 refractor, in order to do what probably would be the last sketch of Jupiter before Christmas. The Pleiades, M36 and Caroline's Rose NGC7789 were on the party too. A few days ago I found back my Baader Contrast Booster filter, specially made for achromats. It blocks red light from 720 nanometer up. And blue from 480 nanometer down. So I used it for Jupiter. The view was less yellow than I remembered. The GRS popped into sight. It was quite small and rather sallow. Anyway, I made a sketch of it.
