Asteriod Leona to occult Betelguese on December 12
This will only be visible from parts of Europe and Asia, Florida and Mexico.
Quote from the article.
"An occultation of a 1st-magnitude star is rare — such an event is visible from Earth only every few decades — but watching one can give astronomers valuable scientific information."

Since it will not be observable from here I expect the skies that night will be perfectly clear

Seeing quite a few videos and images of the event on Twitter and you tube.
Wonder if any of our members managed a look.

Did anyone see it? My location was a bit too far North but I had a look anyway around 1:17 last night!
