AstroDevices encoders on a Vixen Porta I / II?
Anybody put AD push-to encoders on a Porta? When I put encoders on my Twilight I, they seemed to make it somewhat less stable. The encoder housings added about an inch to each axis, so maybe that should have been expected.
Anybody experience the same with a Porta?

Re: AstroDevices encoders on a Vixen Porta I / II?
I have never used AD gear nor could I even find encoders on their website?
I do not know if they are price comparable but the Argo Navis can be added to the Vixen Porta mounts.
https://www.wildcard-innovations.com.au /purchase.html
Obsession Telescopes in USA sells them: https://www.obsessiontelescopes.com/acc ... /index.php
I have used one for years and have encoders for myEQ -5 and Stellarvue M2C
Most likely completely useless information

One-arm mount design is generally prone to vibrations, so I feel you will have the same issue with Porta.

Yeah, you have to dig around a bit to find the encoder kits. Might be under shopping or products - it's not obvious. I ordered mine from a vendor in California whose Web site was a lot easier to navigate.Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Thu Oct 05, 2023 8:43 pm I have never used AD gear nor could I even find encoders on their website?

Re: AstroDevices encoders on a Vixen Porta I / II?
Their site definitely needs to be made a bit more user friendly.
Unfortunately I have not installed encoders on a Porta mount so cannot offer any advice on it.
