Recently I helped organize and catalog a passed friends observatory.
I ended purchasing his Vixen AXD which ultimately I really did not need.
The mount has a 33 kg photographic load and used to carry his Celestron C-14 and imaging gear.
The heaviest telescope I will have on it is my 152/ 1200 which weights around 13 kg.
The mount should have a easy life! Just the mount weights 25 kg though so definitely a set up for when you have the opportunity for a long session.
Now I just have to figure out which of my old mounts will be sold.
Likely the Skywatcher EQ-5 and the Manfrotto...

I'm sure that was both weird and sad going through your friend's equipment.
But congrats on the new gear. You do know that that type of gear demands a building be built around it, at some point.
The benefits of a permanently installed large mount are numerous and delightful!

Thank you guys, it was a bit strange going through everything with his son.
The AXD will definitely be able to handle a much larger telescope if I decide to purchase one in the future.

I would not have gotten any use from the C-14 so better it goes to someone who would appreciate it.
Besides I have no room for a beer keg in the astro shed

Any SC smaller than 10" is a party keg and anything over 10" is a full keg
A C-14 would take up any room I had left over for a wine rack anyways.
People need priorities!
I set it up yesterday and you definitely do not want to kick the tripod, the whole thing without a telescope mounted weights almost 52 kg!

And is a thing of beauty! Being able to rest your body against the mount whilst viewing and the image stays motionless within the FOV is a wonderful feeling. Very relaxing.

I have it set up with the 152/1200 for viewing some planets (Saturn looks great!)
I gave the tube a slap and there was no vibration that I could see.
Warm up is done, time to stare at Jupiter for a bit
