It looks like a meteor impact took place with Jupiter on 8/28/2023 at 01:45:54. I’m not sure if this is UTC or local time. Tadoa Ohsugi from Komatsu Ishikawa Japan posted a video of it on YouTube. I haven’t found any other English speaking reports and I wonder if anyone else has any information. It looks pretty impressive.

For something that size, I would think it would be more likely a small asteroid. A meteor would only of created a small blip. Just guessing.

I agree. I usually just think of a meteor as an asteroid that enters an atmosphere. 😁

Yes it is, not sure why it did not post the rest but the battery died on the keyboard and not the mouse so just posted without checking

Jupiter image that I saw was amazing would of loved to see it live with a telescope
