Fresnel lenses are not useful for imaging at all. I don't see how this modification eliminates all the obvious disadvantages. It als suggests that it is meant for spectral analysis from planets passing in front of a star, as opposed to direct imaging that a good telescope can do. They talk about very small FOV and wavelength specific lens shaping. Comparing these Fresnel lenses to JWST sounds like sensationalism to me.
