W/L Sun June 10/23

Hey all,

Been a slow day here for me, just can't seem to wake up... Clouds this morning and then it cleared a bit before 5PM. Well, clear as in no overly imminent clouds, yet the sky still had a white haze to it. I took this a few minutes after I finished; good timing on my part:

IMG_1568.JPG

I'm tired and a bit bored so I thought to give it a whirl with my usual 80mm solar W/L setup using the Baader 5.0 film. Took 150 shots with my EOS 550D and stacked the best 10%. No post-processing except for cropping and the planets to scale.

It''ll do

Thanks Andrey :D One of the things I like about ol' Sol is that it's ever-changing, unless it's solar minimum... I think I saw one spot in 2017!

White light can change from morning to afternoon; Ca-K and HA do so even more so from what I've seen so far.

AR3327 certainly caused a bit of a disruption, and AR3331 did so today as well.

The first pic is from the 6th and the next one is today. According to SOHO there's a bunch of spots coming around in the next few days as well. Too bad my weather probably won't co-operate!

As long as we don't get a Carrington event, I'm happy with the way the Sun is so active now :D

Your two comparison photos are an excellent explanation. It's a good incentive to get my solar filter out!
