Irish Astrophotography Competition
As well as the formal judging there is a public vote open to anyone. If you are interested in what can be achieved in a location which is not renowned for it's clear skies you can view the shortlisted images here
https://reachforthestars.ie/exhibition/
If you go on and take the time to vote on an image, I'd ask that you vote for the one you genuinely think is best, and that may not be one of mine - there are some stunning nightscapes on the list.
Thanks
David

Re: Irish Astrophotography Competition
Thank you! The competition rules only allowed for 2 submissions per person ( per category I think, i.e deep space or night scape) so i only submitted these two. These were the two I thought most likely to grab the judges eye.

Hi David, they certainly caught my eye as well! I enjoyed a coffee looking at all that, some great talent there. The Spaghetti Nebula got my vote; and even if I didn't know you through here, it would have anyways. Stunning!
I've been to Ireland twice ('77 & '95) I'd love to go back again; such beautiful country and people
Good luck and all the best,

Re: Irish Astrophotography Competition
Thanks Mark. It's a small astrophotography community over here but there are some very good practitioners. I was really delighted just to make the shortlist.Thefatkitty wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 3:59 pmJockinireland wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 3:46 pm These were the two I thought most likely to grab the judges eye.

Good luck and all the best,
I'm an expat Scot, here 20 years now. It is a great place but it's not Scotland
I hoe you are keeping well. Are you badly affected by the smoke? I do hope not.
Take care,
David

Re: Irish Astrophotography Competition
Thank you so much.
Yes I think its astonishing what we can do with a moderate telescope and digital camera. And some of the processing tools we have now have been a quantum leap compared to when I started only 4 years ago.
