The camera came with the telescope package I ordered including the Vixen Advanced unit which is a extra module that allows you to control everything through the Starbook 10 controller. No laptop is required.

I have a home-built slit spectrograph, design similar to Baader, but using a 1200mm line/mm grating. I can't cover the whole visible spectrum in one shot with a Asi1600, 22mm diagonal sensor. Actually only about a quarter at a time. But, factors to consider; what is the collimator focal length, actual size of your '1/3' inch sensor, my guess about 6mm.
All the relevant formulae escape me at this time, but collimator focal length and lines/mm are a big part.
I see that the Baader comes with a 200 line/mm grating, 1200 line optional. I see they recommend a ST-7 or ST-402 camera for the unit both about 1/3 inch sensors, I think. So, give it a try, I would just point out the window in daytime for a test run and test out the thing on the solar/daytime spectrum. Doesn't cost anything extra.
Sounds like fun, good luck
Steve

Thank you for the information Steve.
I will not be purchasing the DADOS until the 2024 astro budget is approved but I was wondering if the camera would work for this.
When I do receive it I will test it as you say and I am sure I will have many more questions at that point anyways.

It appears that the camera you have linked to is "sold out" and "discontinued".

Yes I purchased it with the telescope (full package) in 2016 though it and the advance unit have sat in their boxes since then.
A couple friends in Bratislava have tried the mount/ Advance unit for imaging and liked it but nobody tried the CCD.

Off the top of my head, I think the sensor in that camera is just too small to get the coverage you will be seeking. But since you already own it, let's see what happens.
Cheers,

Searching the skies since 1966. "I never met a scope I didn't want to keep."
I do hope it works as it would be nice to be able to operate everything through the Starbook 10 controller.
To go crazy if it does not I do have a Canon EOS 5D Mk IV but it definitely is not in my preference to use it.

The camera looks just like a Revolution Imager camera. So I was surprised to click on the DADOS link and see there appears to be an eyepiece screwed into the t-adapter ring which normally goes in the focuser... Not that that information would help you, but those are my initial thoughts :-)
And... I always wondered what it would take to do this, so it is quite interesting!
It can be used visually (handheld) so perhaps that was the configuration you saw?
Do you think I should just set the CCD aside and use my DSLR instead?

Since I never looked into what is really required I am not 100% sure in my answer. But... After looking at the DADOS link again, those are very fine spectral lines in the graph you will hopefully be creating. So I expect a camera with awesome resolution like your Canon EOS 5D Mk IV is going to do that way better than the small sensor on that Vixen camera. So yes I assume the Canon is going to be far better.
It does say a web cam would work to take spectra, so that Vixen camera may work. I guess when you can buy the DODOS with the 2024 budget there is no reason to not try the Vixen camera since you already have it. Interestingly someone asked in 2018 what the best camera for the DODOS was. The question is still unanswered :-)
