I'm thinking about it... East and west are good, but unfortunately my south view is blocked partially by some trees. One of my clients has a large property with a great view south; they're about 80kms (50 miles) north of me. I'll be talking to them next week

Purely ornamental, or else the supplier got a deal on empty beer/pop cans. The pinhole lens is under the black tab beside the "ar" of Solar on the wall of the can. The paper is wrapped around the inside wall of the can, allowing the pinhole to function as a fisheye lens.

Sure, the function of the "camera" is no mystery. Just the idea of it being marketed inside of a drinking can seemed odd, but I do suppose if they are using empty/recycled cans it would make more sense.

I think the idea originated as a coffee can camera. To commercialize it, I guess they had to find a cylindrical container that was light-tight, and a drink can fit the bill.

I would have thought that a soup can would be more practical. Imagine hiking through the woods on a hot summer day and you find a beer can strapped to a fence post. What could be more natural than to pop the top to take a sip? Oops, you just ruined the exposure!
