SpaceX Falcon 9 launch Friday at midday

#1

Post by Makuser »

Hi all. A nice mostly sunny with some clouds midday here and I got 3 shots of the SpaceX Falcon 9 launch at 11:43am EDST from my backyard. See photos below:

Here are the details:
On Friday, March 24th at 11:43am EDST, SpaceX launched the Falcon 9 Starlink 5-5 from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station - SLC40 with a batch of satellites for the Starlink mega-constellation. The first stage booster supporting this mission previously launched CRS-22, Crew-3, Turksat 5B, Crew-4, CRS-25, Eutelsat HOTBIRD 13G, mPOWER-a, and two Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
I hope that you enjoy these photos and notice the big birdie in the upper left of the last capture. :icon-smile:

Hi Michael and I am glad that you liked them. These launches are always fun to watch and photograph, especially the Falcon 9 Heavy. The only down side is that sometimes the launches are just more Starlink satellites (space junk). :(

Great photos again Marshall.

I am pleased you mentioned the 'birdie' that appeared in your third photo.

On the smaller version, at first glance it had the vague shape of the ISS and I thought that was a bit low - was it falling to Earth?

The more I studied it and saw your explanation it all became clear
