I hope so too. I'll be back on a regular schedule this month so with good fortune and clear skies I can add to it or go for something else. Many thanks, Jim.

Thank you, Marshall.Makuser wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 9:51 pm Hi Arry. Well this was a well spent 2 hours. This image has excellent contrast and is well framed. M81 ( NGC 3031 and Bode's Galaxy) has very nice spiral arms details, M82 (NGC 3034 and Cigar Galaxy) shows it's central fracture, and Garland Galaxy (NGC 3077) is quite visible too. Thanks for sharing this great work with us on here Arry and I hope that you can get a break from work sometime soon.

Re: New Image: M81 and co
Hi Greg, thanks for the question. In terms of dynamic range and according to this site http://dslr-astrophotography.com/iso-va ... n-cameras/ the sweet spot is ISO200 for the D5300. However, I do use ISO400 and 800 with good results too, especially with calibration files Many thanks

Re: New Image: M81 and co
I know, and of course, when doing calibration frames I do them at the same iso, temperature and exposure time as the lights. Except of course for bias which are done with the same iso and if possible temperature but at the fastest shutter speed as we are only establishing the dark fixed patter noise. And dark flats which should be done at the same exposure as the flats. But thanks for pointing that out. Much appreciated.AstroBee wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 2:39 amYour calibration frames MUST be shot at the same ISO as your LIGHTS.Gmetric wrote: ↑Wed Mar 08, 2023 2:34 amHi Greg, thanks for the question.
