Very interesting Jeff. People need to realize is not just humanity's planet but also the domain of birds, insects, and animals who deserve light pollution free skies as much as people do. I'm not really optimistic meaningful large scale change will happen, but there does seem to be more awareness than in the past and folks are creating dark sky reserves to the extent possible. My neighborhood for example has no streetlights, which is a step in the right direction. Now if we could just get people to turn off their porchlights, too.
