2 nights of clear skies!

Superb skies for a second night, though clouded in tonight.

Telescopes used were TAL 100RS on the Vixen SXP and Antares 105 mm on the Vixen AXJ.
The Antares 105 mm was setup for visual observation of planets while the TAL 100RS was set up for spectroscopy.

I have 3 different eyepiece spectrometers, a Carl Zeiss Jena model made between 1905/10, a Baader blazed grating spectroscope and a
Rainbow Optics blazed grating eyepiece. The Baader and Rainbow were made in early to mid 2000s.
The gratings used are between 100 lines/ mm to 400 lines/ mm though for eyepiece viewing of spectral lines the 200 lines/ mm works very well.

The gratings for these are pretty much impossible to find today though I have seen 2 of the Rainbow Optic kit for sale at Astromart in the last 5 years.

I think it is geared more for imaging but may be compatible for visual observing.
Check before purchasing just in case.

A fun evening of planets and spectra. If you have not tried spectroscopy I recommend it as a interesting aspect of our hobby.
The 2024 astro budget will be spent on the Baader DADOS system to update my equipment.

Another observing night, very nice, Gabby. I am curious what are the range of star magnitudes you can observe spectra?

6/ 7th magnitude on good steady night, using a camera definitely goes deeper.
