Comet 2022 ZTF deep process

#1

Post by sdbodin »

Well not really deep but deep for a dozen 5 second shots. Reprocess of my 30 Jan fixed tripod shots of ZTF during the only clear night recently. Wanted to see if a tail could be found with such short exposures. Success, sort-of, not very pretty but about two degrees is visible. Original image posted and deep negative rendition posted.

Exposure data, Rokinon 135mm at f2 with IR cut filter, Zwo ASI1600MC-cool camera 20/5sec exposure, 1 min 40 sec total. Deep process, convert to B/W, invert and equalize in PS CS5, both posted full scale, but 60% crop of full frame.

Clear skies,
Steve
Scopes; Meade 16 LX200, AT80LE, plus bunch just sitting around gathering dust
Cameras; Atik 460ex mono, Zwo ASI1600MC-cool, QHY5L-II color and mono

Hello Steve. A nice process of your Comet C/2022 E3 image using your Rokinon 135mm at f/2. I especially enjoyed the cropped B&W negative inverted version as it really shows more of the comet's tail length. Thanks for sharing this with us on here Steve and keep up the great work.
