Now I have gone and done it!

I was interested in the New Dwarf Labs Dwarf II scope for outward bound work with my small club. After much discussion with my Missus she agreed I could purchase one on the strict understanding that I tidied my inventory and sold off kit to cover the cost.

Now shucks, she's agreed and I have one on Pre-order. I looked in my telescope store today and the unwellcome task of selling off my 'one day I'll use that' seems pretty daunting. Ah well, onwards and upwards. I will keep you Guys and Gals update with how my new tiny AI scope performs - should be with me some time in February.

If you've not seen it - info here - https://dwarflab.com/products/dwarf-2-s ... 3786709227
Cheers,

Tony.

I'm operating under a similar agreement, but out the blue it was suggested I buy myself a new scope for Christmas. I didn't, but I'm eyeing a SVBONY SV48P. Yeah, it's an achro and yeah I have an ST80, ST120, and a 102ED, but well, I don't have a 90 now, do I?

Nice catch! For only $439 you can't go too wrong. It's only a 24 mm lens but it sounds really clever. Viewfinder built in, self-calibrating (alt/az), self-rotating algorithm, and also tracking birds so it targets 2 markets. It doesn't say if the wide field lens is used for autoguiding, I suppose not. Let us know how well it works!

Nice, I have seen a couple web reports and pics I am interested too. Seems to be a compact setup for an under the airline seat travel scope. However, the posted images I have seen are not of the quality that I would like. Maybe user experience will solve that.

Waiting for a your report.

Nope it doesn't guide, but the developer does seem very open to incorporating suggestions (and this one has been made). I have also seen Cuiv tilt the axis towards polaris and use it in pseudo GEM mode. The tracking also appeals to me for nature work.

I think there will always be issues on the quality side as compared to conventional AP, they have now put linear stretch in and the data when dropped into PI does improve. Walking noise still seems to be an issue at the rotational correction isn't perfect. As a outward bound option of being able to to show objects inaccessible to most its intended as a tempter ;) Well it tempted me.
Cheers,

Tony.

Yes, and the updates are looking good, great that the team is switched on to the community’s comments.

Yes, or on a tablet etc. As I will be using with groups on star parties I will use an Ipad to get a larger view. You can export the Tiff files and process as you wish rather than use the app stacking as well. My real interest for it is 'real time' EAA.
Cheers,

Tony.
