Clearoutside is predicting clear skies for me next Saturday and I'm just trying to get set up. It's odd that you asked that. Do you see a problem? If so, let me know.
Most of refractors are nose-heavy and to balance them you have to shift the tube so the mount clamp is closer to the front, not in the middle. As long as you check the balance you should be fine.

For some time now, I've wanted a classic Japanese 60mm f/15 to use on occasion, so it must be the collector in me that's driving this as I've now obtained my second (as yet, untested) refractor, with another(!) arriving next week. I do hope they do not all turn out to be duds, otherwise the search will continue.

Raining, currently, but maybe a chance for clearing late tomorrow (Friday).

Not being familiar with the Unitron model numbering, I don't know how mine would have been listed.

It came in the original wooden box with no room for any type of mount - OTA only, with some accessories.

Waiting for an improvement in weather to use, and photograph, these 2.4-inch Oriental creations.

BTW, in 1959 I turned three.

The Unitron 60mm, f/15 came in two models depending on mount: the alt-az was the Model 114; the equatorial was the Model 128. The alt-az normally came with mount and scope in the same wooden case. The equatorial had three cases: one for the OTA; one for the tripod legs; and one for the mount itself.

Check out my UnitronHistory website (in my signature) for pics of the various model!

Takahashi FOA-60 clamshell/ADM Tak dovetail plate holds it. Original finder missing, I added the one seen. Also, one screw for the lens retaining ring was missing, and I have been unable to find an exact match commercially. The screw I use is not the proper one.

I just got this in all the way from Texas. A Celestron SS80 from the early 90's. I had to order a set of rings for it because the diameter is considerably smaller than other 80mm scopes. I will probably just use it on one of my Porta II's.
