microtouch focuser on c11 edge hd

#1

Post by 1jimalexander »

I just set up a new Celestron C11 Edge HD.
I want to automate the focusing. I'm looking at the Microtouch focuser. I looks like I need to add the Feathertouch focuser first. Can someone confirm this please.

I've also been looking at the Celestron focus motor which doesn't require any additional hardware. It's also a lot cheaper.
Anyone familiar with or had experience with either of these focusers?

I have the MicroTouch system with the required Feather Touch and it works well. Have used it for years. However, I couldn't deal with the FOV shift when imaging planets at long focal lengths, so I went with the Moonlite focuser. Have not used the Celestron version so can't provide any insight on it.

XCalRocketMan: Thanks for your response. Can you give me some detail on the "FOV shift" you refer to.
